The summer anime season was pretty decent showing with a plethora of new series revolving around virtual realities and the interplay of a life lived in an alternate online universe. Accel World was one of these new series and I really liked it, then I hated it for about 4 episodes and then I liked it again in the end. The main character is annoying as all get out but the supporting cast is what really makes the series. Kurohime is one of these supporting characters, filling the role of both muse and love interest of the boring as dry bread main character, her Accel world form is the legendary Black Lotus which this figure is modeled after.

Here is what all comes with this figure. Black Lotus has multiple forms that she takes during the series, the main things that change is how pointy her Accel World avatar is, and as such your accessories are various extensions of her arm and shoulder blades as well as a second head and some minor upgrades to her skirt…blades… blade-skirt… thing.

These are her "I am quite miffed." arm blade extensions and shoulder pads, as well as the standard back skirt… blade… plate thing that I hate because it falls off constantly.

And here is her full, "I am really quite upset." mode gear where the blades are now connected by purple energy and her helmet goes full valkyrie. You may also note that the black blade bits are glued to the purple blade bits, and the contact point is very small and prone to break. Mine came with one of them loose already and needing to be fixed at a later date.

A little closer look at her standard form.

The armor detail is pretty amazing, the lines on this figure are extremely clean. I will also note that it is every bit as sharp and pointy as it looks.

Seeing as this figures feet are also blades, the stand comes with an extra extension to give a little more height and flexibility to the poses you may wish create.

Here we have long arm blade version.

Shoulder pads have gotten a bit more aggressive, I like this look a bit more than default…. probably because I am a boy and the whole "more blades=better" thing is deeply engraved from my ninja loving youth.

Also they create a fantastic silhouette.

I don't know about you, but I like to keep all my figures accessories in a centralized location, in labeled ziplock bags so this may not be an issue for you, but I had to come up with a bit of a kludge to protect this figures extra pointy bits.

Basically just took the box it was shipped in and trimmed it up into a slim sleeve into which the accessories bag could be placed. Someday I may get a fancy accessories box with compartments and all that… but for now that feels a bit to much like jewelry.

This figure is a must have for Accel World fans and a very solid buy for mecha fans. Though it may be kind of hard to get ahold of now for a reasonable price. Black Lotus figma via Otacute
