Otaku St. Patrick's Day

Happy St. Patrick's day everyone! Thought I would put up a short post as it is one of my favorite holidays. St. Patrick's day is an interesting holiday to say the least. When you are less than 14 years old St. Patrick's day meant looking for 4-leaf clovers, lame school events (leprechaun footprints? Really?), and wearing green so you don't come home covered in pinch bruises, and corned beef and cabbage. Then it means nothing until you hit 21 when it means drinking, wearing green to avoid borderline sexual harassment pinching, and corned beef and cabbage. That is the general gist of the holiday, but many families and individuals have their own way of celebrating. In my family it was a tradition, in addition to corned beef and cabbage, to have shortbread and watch Darby O'Gill and the Little People. It's a great classic Disney film, from when they still made good movies, and it's got Sean Connery... SEAN CONNERY. You know... the guy who is amazing in any role he plays because all he does is be Sean Connery. Doesn't matter the role, they should just roll credits with Sean Connery.. appearing as himself. Awesome.

I still keep up the tradition of watching Darby O'Gill and the Little People, and I was delighted to see it on YouTube in the original format (for now) because the U.S. dvd release they re-dubbed all of Darby's dialogue because they thought (mistakenly) that he was to hard to understand... idiots. Anyway.. I am just going to hang out and watch the movie and enjoy my cold Guinness ^^.

Have a fun and safe St. Patrick's day!
