On November 6th, Crunchyroll and the official Japanese account for Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro both announced that the well known manga, Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro, was getting its own anime adaption. This announcement was accompanied by the initial key visual alongside several character sheets and voice actor announcements.
The reaction to this news was insanely positive and many are hyped to see this series on their home screens. However, as far back as four months ago, these same fans have anticipated that when this series aired that twitter would go into meltdown just like they did over Uzaki-chan. This makes sense given that the two characters are often compared to each other in terms of personality.
In order to try and get ahead of the anime communities expectation for a twitter meltdown, one lone wolf tried to change the narrative and insinuated that any drama that happens with this show will only be due to the fault of charismatic YouTuber Hero Hei.
“…it triggers twitter even when it doesn’t.” About that… If one actually checked the quote tweets and comments, one could see that the pre-show meltdown had already begun. Everything from statements of pre-blocking “problematic” accounts to outright stating their hatred for weebs and otakus alike, the small and sad outrage community cried out in earnest.
Others went even further and instead of focusing on the “problematic” aspects of the show, they decided they would go after the fandom itself. Yet again, you also have individuals hating on the fandom while admitting they never even read the source material.
One special comment stood out so much, that it caught the attention of r/goodanimemes, where it was relentlessly mocked and destroyed with facts by people who actually read the manga.
“I didn’t think we could go downhill from Uzaki…” lmao! It’s defiantly gonna be Uzaki-chan 2: Electric Boogalo when this comes out, almost a given at this point. My friends, 2021 is shaping up to be a fantastic month for salt mining. With a line up of Redo no Healer, World’s End Harem, and now Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro, twitter is sure to overload with all the salty snowflakes who just cannot handle the pressure of what is to come. Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro is set to premiere April 2021.
