Austin, Texas, based production company, Rooster Teeth(a subsidiary of mega corporation, AT&T’s, Otter Media), saw immense lay offs in 2019.

Aside from these lay offs, Rooster Teeth also had a number of key employees departing from the company at intervals throughout the year.

This carried into 2020, where even 2 co-founders of the company departed.

Joel Hayman and Burnie Burns.

While the newest person to depart from the company did not seem to hold an executive role, it still paints a grim picture for the future of the company.

Giovanna Coutinho took to Twitter to inform people that she will no longer be at Rooster Teeth.

From the RWBY fan wiki;

Giovanna “Gio” F. Coutinho is a former rigging artist at Rooster Teeth Productions. A Brazilian who decided to study in the US because of a lack of animation opportunities in her country, she joined the company shortly after graduating in the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2015,[1] and has since worked in RWBY (where she also voiced a Menagerie Guard in various Volume 5 episodes), RWBY ChibiRed vs. Blue and Gen:LOCK.

She left Rooster Teeth on July 2, 2020. She is currently a technical animator at Certain Affinity.[1]”

While Rooster Teeth had what appeared to be a terrible year in 2019, the situation isn’t much better in 2020, perhaps even worse.
