There has been a lot of terrible news surrounding Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore due to the pathetic “localization” aka censorship, forced onto fans of the game and series.
Well, fans are now attempting to salvage the game over at GBATemp;
GBATemp users are attempting to restore the original Japanese content to Tokyo Mirage Sessions on Switch. Considering this involves transferring Wii U data to Switch, work is challenging but quite a lot of progress has been made. Yup, even wedding dresses got censored under the guise of “oh we’re just localizing!”. Imagine being offended by such a tame wedding dress? Pathetic.
The OP of the thread of users attempting to restore the content;
“I wanted to have this up since the game releases in less than 2 weeks. Is anyone planning to look into restoring/ uncensoring the switch version when it releases? Yes I know both the JP/NA releases of
the -switch- version are censored, but what i’m wondering is if it’s possible to at least restore the original outfits that were present in the JP WiiU release of the game, maybe even restoring stuff besides the outfits. The only thing I assume would be hard/ impossible would be the dialogue changes that were made to the NA WiiU release and will be used in the Switch Version coming out in less than 2 weeks.”

Apparently there were similar issues with the game in the original version “Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE” as shacknews reported back in 2016;
Listing the following changes to be made to restore content, also from users on the GBAtemp forums;
-
Reverted costumes back to Bikinis, also changing the menu icons back and their original names and descriptions.
-
Completely redid Chapter 2 and a few other small files to return references to Gravure Modelling, this also uses the original voice files.
-
Fixed any map changes relating to pictures in dungeons that were changed.
-
Swapped the English files out for Japanese versions for retranslated files.
-
Healing points no longer come in envelopes.
-
Changed Profiles to reflect the character’s real ages and change back references to Gravure Modeling.
-
Reverted any censored prerendered Cutscene files.
